Black Dots Toner Reactive Foil

Black with
a glint.

Want cards and invitations that look professionally foiled, without print-shop prices? A deep black foil shot through with fine dots, so it reads as black until the light finds it.

  • ✓ The pattern appears inside every letter and shape you print
  • ✓ Works with laser-printed toner and a hot laminator or Minc-style machine
  • ✓ Crisp on smooth card, and especially striking on black
  • ✓ Tested by hand by Mel before it was listed
Luxury invitations
Milestone birthday cards
Event tickets
Branded packaging

Black is harder than it looks.

A flat black foil can disappear into dark card. The dots here solves that, catching just enough light to keep the design visible on white card stock.

Product details
Sizes 1 × A4 sheet or 32cm × 10m roll
Coverage An A4 sheet covers one full A4 page. A 32cm × 10m roll covers about 47 full A4 pages, and far more when you only foil text or accents.
Works with Laser-printed toner and a hot laminator or Minc-style machine. Not suitable for inkjet printing.

Why toner foil?

  • ✓ Any design you can print. Hot-foil stamping needs a metal die for every design.
  • ✓ A real foil finish. Metallic ink only gives a flat shimmer.
  • ✓ Crisp fine text and detail. Foil pens struggle with small lettering.
  • ✓ Low start-up cost. Just a laser printer and a laminator, no specialist press.
  • ✓ Quick for big batches. Print a sheet of invitations and foil them in one pass, instead of drawing each one by hand.

Tested by hand

Every foil in the shop is tested on real projects before it earns its place. If it doesn't perform, it doesn't get listed.

FAQs

Will it work with my inkjet printer?

No. Toner foil only sticks to laser toner. If you only have an inkjet, you can laser-copy your design at a print shop or library and foil the copy.

What machine do I need?

A hot laminator or a Minc-style foil machine. Use a carrier sheet, such as folded paper or an empty laminating pouch, to protect your work.

Does it work on coloured or textured card?

It works on any colour. Smooth, uncoated card gives the crispest result. Heavily textured or glossy card may leave gaps.

My foil is patchy. What am I doing wrong?

Usually the toner is too light or the heat is too low. Print in solid black at full density, run it through your machine twice and let it cool before peeling. The Toner Foiling Guide covers every fix.

How to use

Print your design with a laser printer. Place the foil coloured-side up over the toner, protect it with a carrier sheet and pass it through a hot laminator or Minc-style machine.

Allow it to cool briefly, then gently peel the foil back to reveal the patterned finish.

2

Press

Cover the toner with foil and pass it through your machine.

3
